For a long time, I’ve wanted to come up with an interesting reason to add lights to a bike 🙂 Luckily, Intel asked me to make a project that used their new Arduino 101 board and take advantage of the on board 6 axis accelerometer/gyro. My mind immediately went to make bike lights that kind of acted like dim, auburn “parking” lights when the bike was stationary, but automatically lit up when you started moving.
This was surprisingly easy to do and the circuit was incredibly simple, since the sensor is already onbaoard the Arduino. I also think there’s some really great potential in this project if it’s taken a step or two further. If you’re interested in grabbing the code to use/modify, it’s on my GitHub.
