Recently, I got a new lathe and it’s been sitting on top of different surfaces in the shop since it didn’t have a home. The problem with lifting it from place to place is that IT IS HEAVY! My lathe weighs about 140 lbs so I needed a permanent place to put it. Due to the small size of my shop (yet, I keep adding tools?!) I also needed to be able to move it out of the way when not in use.
A rolling cart made the most sense for me, so I came up with a very simple, but strong design that could handle the weight, but still be mobile. This cart could be very simply modified to carry just about any tool or be adjusted to work for someone taller or shorter than me.
